Heather Jones got her start in fashion design in her native Port of Spain, Trinidad about 30 years ago.
Heather studied tailoring and garment construction with the late “be-spoke tailor” Fitz Blackman in Trinidad. Heather combined this training with her natural artistic talents, drawing and painting her unique designs and then transferring them to her garments. The result was a perfect marriage of hand painting, batik and tie-dye.
Heather’s career was launched internationally when Althea Rocke, Miss Trinidad and Tobago 1980, was photographed wearing one of her designs. She is now well known and well respected throughout the islands and is considered to be one of the foremost artists of Trinidad and Tobago. She has shown her work throughout North America, the Caribbean, Paris, Germany and England.
In 2002, Heather Jones was the Prêt-a-Porter award recipient at the Fashion Week of the Americas held in Miami, Florida.
